It was continuous honking all last night - you could hear it coming up Broadway from downtown all the way to West MacArthur! Punctuated by the occasional celebratory gun shot (usually reserved strictly for NYE). Ferdinand - being in favor of strict gun control (yes, Virginians - Ferdie WOULD take your guns away) always growls when shots are fired on NYE, but he must have sensed the enormity of the occasion - not a growl!
I was at 125th St in Harlem, a crowd of 40,000 according to some estimates! Yes, everybody lost their shit here too, screaming, crying, bursting into improvised hip-hop jams: "O-BA-ma is the PRES-i-dent! (Clap, clap, clap-clap-clap!)"
Everyone took the streets, and just ran around dancing and yelling for hours. Maybe even better than the wildness was the awed silence and tears during Obama's speech. I heart the jumbotron!
